Mercedes-Benz India has announced that it would launch the S63 AMG sedan on August 11, 2015 in the country. Just so you know, the German luxury automaker launched the S63 AMG coupe last month at Rs. 2.60 Crores in India. It would be retailed through CBU route in the country, while the pricing is expected to be in sync with the sibling coupe model. Being based on the standard S-class sedan, the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG boasts of several sporty elements.
Talking about the exterior appearance of Mercedes S63 AMG, it is almost identical to the regular S-Class, save for the AMG kit, which includes chrome inserts, lowered suspension, AMG wheels and quad rear exhausts. Furthermore, it is 100 kgs. lighter than the standard S-Class due to extensive use of aluminium and carbon-fibre. The interior cabin is also based on the S-class; however, unlike S-Class's beige theme, it features an all-black color scheme. Also, the wooden inserts are replaced by the carbon fibre. There is leather upholstery on offer as standard, like the standard S-Class.
Mechanically, it would come loaded with a hand-built 5.5L twin-turbo AMG V8 engine. It belts out 577bhp of top power and 900Nm of peak torque. The engine is linked to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. It accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in a mere 4.4 seconds. Globally, the company offers the S63 AMG with both rear-wheel-drive and 4Matic all-wheel-drive systems, but the India-spec model, in all likelihood, would get the rear-wheel-drive system with Magic Body Control suspension system. For those asking, Magic Body Control uses a stereo camera to scan the road ahead for any potholes and accordingly, adjusts the suspension automatically to ensure smooth riding.
