Luxury car manufacturers in India have never been so active, like they are these days. Every manufacturer is launching their vehicle to bridge the gap between a premium car and a luxury car. While Audi initiated the move by launching their entry level A3 sedan, it seems like Mercedes is game too, and they will be launching their much awaited CLA-Class to rival Audi A3 on 20th January 2015.
Mercedes-Benz was on a roll last year, with a series of launches and new dealership openings, which were the largest ever in the history of the German manufacturer. They are not leaving any stone unturned and according to the images leaked on the web earlier, they will be launching 10 odd vehicles in the global market, out of which some will make their way to Indian shores too.
This entry level sedan will be offered in both petrol and diesel trims and will come powered by a 2.0 litre mill producing 183.5 ps of power and 300 Nm of maximum torque, and a new 2.2 litre unit producing 136 ps of power and 300 Nm of torque. The power will be transferred to the wheels via the famous 7G-DCT automatic transmission of Mercedes.
The CLA sedan will be based on the MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform which is currently being underpinning the A-Class, B-Class, CLA 45 AMG sedan, GLA-Class and GLA 45 AMG. The expected price is going to be somewhat near to Rs 30 lakh range.
