Mercedes-Benz India has been very active in the domestic market recently. Within a span of around 20 days, the German automobile giant has launched three new cars in India - the E220d, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 463 and the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63. The company is now all set to launch the new facelifted GLA in India on July 5, 2017.
The new facelifted Mercedes GLA was first debuted at the Detroit Motor Show this year. It gets a lot of physical changes. The facelifted SUV gets a revised grille design which adds a bolder appearance. The headlamps now get full LED treatment in place of its earlier Bi-xenon. The tail light and the alloy wheels also get a fresh design.
You won’t notice any major changes in the interiors of the new facelifted Mercedes GLA apart from a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The overall interior feel has been given a premium touch with the addition of some chrome bits and lining on the centre console.
On the safety front, they SUV now gets brake assists which can warn the driver if the car gets too close to any object or any other car. There is also a 360-degree parking camera that has bird’s eye view. However, it is not yet confirmed if these features will make it as standard in the India-spec version.
The new 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA will not be getting any major tweaks in its mechanism. Hence, it will continue to be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine and a 2.0-litre petrol engine. The diesel power plant will be capable of producing a maximum power of 134 bhp along with a highest torque of 300 Nm. On the other hand, the gasoline engine will be making a peak power of 181 bhp and a maximum torque of 300 Nm. The transmission duties are done by a 7-speed automatic transmission gearbox.
The facelifted version of the Mercedes GLA will continue to be aggressively priced in the luxury SUV segment as it will be locally assembled at the company’s plant in Chakan, Maharashtra.
