While we are all-set for the launch of Mercedes Benz GL63 AMG within next hour in India, the beautiful CLA45 AMG caught our attention on company's India website, hinting that the sporty coupe might be the next big launch from the AMG stable in our country. The CLA45 AMG is the performance version of standard CLA saloon, which the company is expected to launch on a later stage in India. Based on the A-Class platform, the CLA45 AMG derives its powertrain from the A45 AMG, and will currently come into India through the completely built-up (CBU) route.
Mercedes is calling the CLA45 AMG as compact sports sedan at its site. The sports coupe look-alike four door sedan looks exquisite with its futuristic yet practical flowing body styling. Mercedes has designed the model with great attention to its body construction that is extremely light weighed and interestingly being the world's most aerodynamic production vehicle with Cd (Co-efficient of drag) of just 0.23.
The mighty coupe-like sedan is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-scroll turbocharged petrol engine that produces a monstrous 360 BHP and 450 Nm of torque, courtesy of AMG tuning. Power gets delivered to all four wheels via AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7-speed sports transmission that makes it capable of hitting 100 kmph from standstill in just 4.6 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph.
The CLA45 AMG is expected to make its way into the Indian outlets around the third quarter of 2014. Mercedes is now AMG-ing India with vengeance!
