Maybach, the luxury sub-brand of the Stuttgart based auto giant, Mercedes Benz, has revealed the upmarket, S-Class sedan facelift, embodied with new elements and exclusive features. Some of the styling elements on the facelifted S-class sedan have been borrowed from the Maybach 6 concept car. Sporting new updates, the model will be previewed at the upcoming Geneva Motor show, much before the commencement of its official deliveries in the UK market, slated for August this year.
Among the prominent changes, it gets a bold new grille with vertical louvers used in the Maybach 6 and a restyled front bumper with a glut of chrome in the lower section. It additionally receives the new 20-inch wheels for a meatier look. These vital changes made to the front set the new Maybach S-Class apart from the standard S-Class models. Moreover, Mercedes is planning to add other models to the Maybach range and we could see an all-new, third generation GLS in future at the Los Angeles Motor Show towards the end of this year.
In addition to the above changes, the four-door vehicle also receives a new two-tone paint scheme. Available in nine colour combinations, there is also an option of a double clear coat finish for darker colours, described as a piano lacquer effect by Maybach.Insides also get two new shades-Armagnac brown/black and Savanna beige/black. The leather upholstery also comes with new colour combinations for the stitching.
In mechanical terms, the Maybach S-Class comes with two engine options including a turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 with maximum power of 464bhp in the S560 and a turbocharged 6.0-litre, V12 unit good for 620bhpused in the S650. While Mercedes has launched the pre-facelift S560 and S650 versions in India at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2018, there is yet no information if the new model is India-bound or not.
