In a yet another brilliant show of strength from Nico Rosberg, the German won the 2016 Japanese GP held at Suzuka, extending his championship lead to 33 points. But more than the win of the Rosberg, it was a special day for the team Mercedes as the one-third finish gave them yet another constructors' title, a third straight crown victory.

Lewis Hamilton, who is facing quite a lot issue with his car had a nightmare start at the Suzuka, but managed to finish at the third spot, just behind Max Verstappen of Red Bull who secured a brilliant second spot. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel was the lead runner for the Italians and secured a fourth place for the Scuderia ahead of his team mate Kimi Raikkonen.

Last race winner Daniel Ricciardo of the Red Bull finished at a disappointing sixth place, ahead of both the Force Indias of Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg who finished seventh and eighth. Their arch rivals Williams driven by Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas finished at ninth and tenth spot, completing the top ten of the 2016 Japanese GP.

"It’s been an awesome weekend for sure, the whole weekend had gone great from the word go, so it’s been very, very special, especially on this legendary track, beautiful to win here. And of course congrats to everybody, to all my colleagues in the team, for clinching a third Constructors’ World title," said happy Rosberg. And thank you very much to all of you, a very, very special weekend this weekend, you put on such a great show out in the grandstands, it’s amazing. Arigato."

With this championship win, the Silver Arrows became the fifth team – after Ferrari, McLaren, Williams and Red Bull – to win three constructors' title in a row. McLaren and Red Bull currently hold the title for the most numbers of wins in a row - a record four wins. This is also the first win for Nico Rosberg in Japan, and also his 23rd career win.

With 9 wins this season, and four races to go, Lewis Hamilton still has a shot at winning the championship title. Rosberg is now leading the championship with 313 points, a healthy 33 points ahead of Hamilton who sits at 280 points. Even if Hamilton wins all the four races, all Rosberg need is three second spot finishes and a third to clinch his first ever title.
