German automajor Mercedes-Benz has finally rolled out the much anticipated Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG roaster for India at Rs 1.26 crore (e-showroom, Delhi). This is the third AMG spec vehicle in India this year after G63 AMG and E63 AMG.
The SLK (Sporty, Light, Short) is a two-seater hard top covertible that powered by a 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine churns out a maximum power output of 421PS and 540Nm of peak torque.
Transmitting the power to the rear wheels is the AMG SpeedShift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission that helps the vehicle touch the 100kmph mark from standstill in mere 4.5 seconds. The 250kmph of the top speed is electronically limited.
With an objective to enhance its grip and performance, Mercedes-Benz India has installed the 18 inch alloy wheels in the car.
The major changes that you can see between the Standard SLK 350 and the 55 AMG version are the revised front bumper with larger air intakes, bigger wheel arches, redesigned rear bumper with a subtle boot spoiler and integrated diffuser. Moreover, Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), Headlamps, rear lights and turn indicators are all in LEDs. Otehr two features that differentiate two cars are the roof in contrast colour and AMG 'quad pipe exhaust' on the large rear skirt.
In terms of interior, the new SLK 55 AMG features carbon fibre trim on the dashboard and much sportier seats. The sky control setup however is the same found on the regular SLK 350. Standard features that are there in the SLK 55 AMG are infotainment system, aluminium pedals and contrast stitches on the seats.
The SLK 55 AMG's hardtop roof can be bought among three options- standard, with sunroof and Magic Sky Control, depending upon the variant one chooses.
