Mercedes-Benz introduces Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics

The German car manufacture, Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics in collaboration with the Government Engineering College for engineering college students in Kerala.

The Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics is an one year course with 4 modules – Mechanical, Electronics, Vehicle Systems and Soft Skills. The first batch of the course will start from 19th March 2014 and interested students can fill application form online.

The Automotive Mechatronics course is currently run by two government polytechnics in Pune and Aurangabad and this is the third public-private partnership by the company in Kerala. In Pune and Aurangabad, there are total of 266 students who have been trained so far.

Initially, the company will start the first batch with 20 students who will be selected with strict as per merit in an entrance test conducted by the College. Engineering degree / diploma holders are eligible to appear for the entrance test. Moreover, certificates for successful students will be given to the students which will be signed by the Director of Technical Education, Kerala and Mercedes-Benz India. 

Commenting on the association, Mr. Devdutta Chandavarkar, Vice President-After Sales, Mercedes-Benz India said, “We need qualified, industry-ready professionals for the rapidly growing luxury car market in the country. The prime reason behind starting this course was the scarcity of skilled automobile engineers, especially those who could work on modern cars with latest technology. With this course, engineering students will be trained on Mercedes-Benz cars and will also be awarded the ‘Advance Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics’.”

Mercedes has been involved in planning the syllabus on modern automotive technology, supply of Mercedes-Benz training cars, training of GEC lecturers and supply of tools & equipment to the students.

The ADAM facility has a modern electronics lab, car bay and aggregate training rooms, equipped with training cars, engines, gearboxes and e-lab equipment. Application form and prospectus are available at www.gecbh.ac.in
