Mercedes Benz India will roll out its 50,000th car from its Chakan plant and to celebrate this, the carmaker will also launch the special edition of the C-Class which will be called - Mercedes Benz C Class Grand Edition.
The company's manufacturing plant at Chakan produces the C-Class, ML-Class, GL-Class and the E-Class. The company is also to loacally manufacture the new S-Class in couple of months.
The launch of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Grand Edition will take place after the launch of the Mercedes C Class Edition C. The Grand Edition will have no mechanical changes and will be available in C220 CDI diesel engine variant. It is also expected that the Grand Edition will be priced higher than the regualr variant.
Dr Jens Thiemer, Vice President Marketing Communications Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars, adds “The new C-Class is the highest-quality premium model in the medium-class segment. It uncompromisingly underlines the brand’s claim “The Best” to leadership. With this worldwide campaign and its slogan, we are self-confidently asserting that for many people worldwide there is no alternative to this car.”
The company's Chakan plant produces 10,000 units annually and is also working to expand its capacity to 20,000 cars by end of 2014. Apart from this, the company has also set up its 'Center of Excellence' in the Chakan plant recently.
