MG Motor India unveiled a plethora of new products at the ongoing 2020 Auto Expo. There were several production-ready electric and non-electric vehicles at the biennial event, besides the exquisite concept cars. However, in this piece we will talk about MG E200 which also had its first public appearance in the Indian market. The 3-door compact concept car has been specially designed for congested urban cities.
Taking personal mobility to a new high, MG E200 is a 2-seater vehicle with fairly compact dimensions. It measures 2,488mm in length 1,506mm in width and 1,617mm in height while having a weight of around 800kgs. Surprisingly, the E200 is 676mm shorter in length than a Tata Nano. The features on the concept includes LED lights, a multi-function steering wheel and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The company has also equipped with several premium safety features in form of dual airbags, ABS and EBD as standard.
Mechanically, the MG E200 concept draws power from a permanent magnet synchronous motor which churns out 39bhp. The British brand has laid significant emphasis on making it ‘quiet as a library’. The motor gets power from a lithium-ion battery pack with a purported driving range of 210 kms on a single charge. Presently, MG E300 is only sold in China in a left-hand-drive configuration. The company might launch it in the Indian market on the basis of customer feedback and response to the model displayed at the 2020 Auto Expo.
