  • 1508 units of MG Hector were sold in the first month of its launch.
  • MG Hector has recorded over 40,000 bookings.
  • MG Motors starting an additional shift at Halol plant to curb the waiting period.

MG Hector has been witnessing really strong demand in the Indian market ever since its launch on June 27, 2019. The company is also constantly working towards increasing its production capacity in order to meet the rising demand.

Recently, the 10,000th unit of the SUV was rolled out from the Halol facility in Gujarat. For those asking, MG Hector has registered 40,000+ pre-orders by the second week of October.

The rollout of the 10,000th unit indicates that while it took three months to the company to develop 5000 SUVs, the next 5000 were produced in half of that time. The response for the Hector was so overwhelming that the British brand had to once stall the bookings temporarily.

The bookings re-opened from September 29, i.e. the first day of Navratri. Now, it is being learned that MG is planning to start an additional shift to accentuate the production at the Halol manufacturing unit in order to counter the rising waiting period and ensure timely deliveries.

Going by the present booking and delivery status, customers placing an order for their SUV today might have to wait till early 2020 to take home their Hector.

Currently, over 6000 units have been sold by the company and it comes as a big surprise, considering the fierce competition in the segment and overall industry slowdown.

Meanwhile, in other news, MG Motor India is all set to launch its second offering, the all-electric eZS SUV, in the Indian market. MG eZS is expected to be launched in December while attracting a sticker price of Rs 20 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). It will directly rival the Hyundai Kona in India.
