- MG Hector has over 48,000 bookings since launch in June.
- Kia Seltos has also received 50,000+ orders.
- Both these SUVs have received overwhelming response despite the unfavorable conditions.
MG Hector and Kia Seltos are turning out to be the saving grace amidst the sales slowdown in the Indian automotive industry. Both the SUVs have received bumper bookings and the companies aren't leaving any stone unturned to ensure timely delivery while ramping up the production capacity as well.
Both the Hector and Seltos are placed in the compact SUV segment which is dominated by the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, and Jeep Compass.
To date, over 10000 units of Hector have been dispatched to the dealers since its launch in June by MG Motor India. On the other hand, Kia has managed to retail 13790 units of Seltos SUV in the last couple of months in August & September. MG Hector, which is being developed at the company's Halol production facility in Gujarat, has currently 40,000+ impending orders.
Even the company had to momentarily stall the bookings on July 18. However, it was quick to reopen them in September due to the start of the festive season and high demand, albeit with increased price by up to Rs 30,000-40,000.
MG Hector has been successful in garnering yet another 8000 bookings since then. Coming to the Seltos, it is undergoing production at Kia's state-of-the-art unit in Anantpur, Andhra Pradesh.
The South-Korean automaker is yet to deliver 50,000 units of the SUV. The Kia Seltos is offered with multiple powertrains in the form of a 1.5L diesel, 1.4L turbocharged petrol, and 1.5L petrol engines.
However, over half of the bookings are for diesel variants while the petrol turbo unit has managed to capture 30 percent of the total bookings. As for the Hector, the majority of the bookings have been secured by the 1.5L petrol hybrid variant.
