- MG Hector Plus is one of the exciting models revealed at the Auto Expo.
- The SUV will be available in three options, a 5-seater, a 6-seater, and a 7-seater SUV.
- The MG Hector Plus will be launching sometime in the second half of 2020.
A revamped version of the existing MG Hector was always on the cards after the runaway success of the present model in India. The Auto Expo presented a fantastic opportunity to MG Motors to unveil some of its upcoming models. Among the 14 cars and SUVs displayed at the Auto Expo Pavilion, the MG Hector Plus take pride of place. The revealed design shows a three-row six-seater version of the MG Hector. The SUV is available in two other options, the 5-seater and the 7-seater.
The MG Hector has an excellent exterior design. The Hector Plus retains many aspects but has some distinctive features to distinguish it from the 5-seater SUV that is available today. The Hector Plus features an all-black grille, thicker LEDs, a unique bumper design, and an innovative triangular shape for the headlight and fog lamps. The chrome surrounds present on the current model are conspicuous by its absence.
Other notable absentee factors include the LED light bar on the upper part of the rear bumper and one on the tailgate. The reverse light and the reflectors have shifted to a higher position on the rear bumper. The vehicle is obviously more prominent than the existing model. The difference is easily visible when viewed from the sides. The alloy wheels remain the same on the revamped model, as well.
The interiors of the MG Hector Plus get a refurbishment in the form of a three-row seating arrangement. The 6-seater version features two Captain Chairs in the second row, whereas the 7-seater version will feature bench seats for the second and third rows.
Apart from becoming more spacious, the interiors get a few cosmetic tweaks in the form of an updated software solution for the 10.4-inch touchscreen info system. The top-end variants could come equipped with MG’s in-car connectivity suite and a panoramic sunroof.
Reports say that the new MG Hector Plus SUV will be receiving the same engine configuration as is available on the present model. The three engine options will be as under.
- BS6-compliant 1.5L turbo-petrol
- BS6-compliant 1.5L petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system
- The BS6-compliant 2L turbo-diesel engine
All these engines will pair with a 6-speed manual transmission option with the option of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. MG Motors has not yet confirmed the availability of an auto transmission mode on the diesel version.
MG Motors has not yet decided on the pricing of the Hector Plus. One can expect an announcement as the launch date draws near. The additional options available on the Hector Plus could result in the placing of this vehicle above the present Hector on the pricing aspect. When launched, the Hector Plus could provide healthy competition to the Mahindra XUV500, the Tata Gravitas, and the next-gen Hyundai Creta. The Hyundai Creta could also come with a seven-seater option very soon.
In the meanwhile, the MG Hector Plus is stealing the show at the Auto Expo along with the 14 other cars and SUVs on display from the MG Motors stable.
