MG Motor India has revealed that its recently launched Hector SUV has registered 1508 unit sales within a month of launch in the country. The SUV, which was officially rolled out on June 27, 2019, is available in four variants, in both petrol and diesel engine options in manual and automatic versions. MG’s first model for the Indian market carries aggressive pricing which starts from Rs 12.18 lakh and goes up to Rs 16.88 lakh (ex-showroom).
With 21,000 bookings in hand (by July 18), MG Hector attracting long waiting periods. That said, the model is sold out for this calendar year and bookings have been closed temporarily.
As per company claims, the bookings have not reached the 28,000 marks and MG is hoping to re-open it soon. Gauging the demand for Hector, MG Motor India is planning to scale up to monthly production of Hector at its Hallol plant to 3,000 units effective September 2019.
The petrol variants in the line-up account for over 50 per cent of the SUV’s total sales, the company reveals. Sitting at the top of the range, the Smart and Sharp grades are the most popular ones. As reported, the petrol automatic variant attracts a waiting period of over seven months. While the petrol manual commands a waiting period of four months and a diesel manual around 3 months.
