MG Hector has sold a total of 3,526 cars in the two months since its launch. There is a high demand for the MG Hector, as the company has registered more than 11,000 fresh customers after announcing the temporary closure of its reservations in July. The Company aims to focus on the existing 28,000 initial bookings done in July 2019.
The Chief Commercial Officer of MG Motor India, Gaurav Gupta expressed his happiness at the overwhelming response to the MG Hector from the Indian auto lovers. The company is committed to honoring the delivery of its 28,000 initial bookings received in July. The company had suspended the reservations to focus on providing customer satisfaction. However, they have received more than 11,000 new bookings after the temporary halting of bookings in July.
The Company has announced that it will decide to re-open bookings later in 2019, as the brand is set to increase the production at its Halol factory to 3,000 cars per month.
MG Hector is MG’s initial entry into the Indian SUV market. This vehicle competes with Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur, and the Tata Harrier. MG Hector is available in four trims with three choices of engines, petrol, diesel, and petrol-hybrid.
MG Motor India is also planning to introduce its first electric vehicle, the ZS EV in the Indian market. The launch could happen any time by the year-end with the company announcing the prices early next year. Initially, the ZS EV will be restricted to five cities, as MG Motor India focuses on the local assembly to keep the electric SUV prices down.
