MG Hector is inching closer to its much awaited launch in the Indian market as it is expected to be introduced in the first half of June 2019. Recently, the company unveiled the SUV and shared several details regarding the features and engine speicifications. Though MG Motor did announce the engine options for the Hector SUV but the mileage figures were not announced during the premiere on May 15. But, the fuel efficiency figures of the petrol, diesel and the hybrid variants have been leaked online ahead of the launch.
The leaked document states that MG Hector petrol manual and automatic variants will have a mileage of 14.16kmpl and 13.96kmpl, respectively. There will be a 1.5L turbo petrol engine at the helm with options of 6-speed manual transmission and 6-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox. The range-topping petrol variants will feature mild-hybrid technology which will reduce the CO2 emissions by 11 percent and increase the fuel economy by 12 percent, resulting in a segment-best 15.81kmpl. Also, it will be able to transfer extra 20Nm torque as and when required. In addition, it will boast of regenerative braking, engine start/stop and e-boost features as standard. This mild-hybrid system would use a 48-volt lithium ion battery to store energy.
Though the mild-hybrid variants can only be availed with a 6-speed manual gearbox in three trims: Super, Smart and Sharp. Coming to the diesel variants of MG Hector, they will be powered by the Fiat-sourced 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, which also does duties to two of its top rivals like Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass. It will develop a top power and peak torque of 168bhp and 350Nm, respectively. The engine will be linked to a 6-speed manual unit while it returns a fuel efficiency of 17.41kmpl.
