- MG ZS is already sold in an all-electric version.
- MG 360M will rival Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo.
- MG might also introduce a 3 or 4-seater version of E200 EV.
MG Motor India had presented the Gloster SUV and G10 MPV at the 2020 Auto Expo as its third and fourth models, respectively, in the country. Both the aforementioned models will be high-end and targeted at luxury urban buyers. However, it has been learnt that the fifth and sixth product from MG will be aimed at affordable buyers in form of ZS SUV and 360M MPV. The company already retails Hector and ZS EV in the Indian market.
“Right now, the MG brand in India is clearly moving up, with the Hector, ZS EV, and the upcoming Gloster, and we want to consolidate it there and establish its position,” said Rajeev Chaba President, MG Motor India. “But then, afterwards, we want to come down, and we hope the strong brand will help”. Speaking of the ZS, it is already available in all-electric avatar but now the company will launch its petrol-powered version to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. It is expected to be offered with two BS6-compliant petrol engines: 1.0L with 111bhp and 160Nm & a 1.3L with 125bhp and 230Nm.
Coming to the MG 360M MPV, it will be the longest in the segment when it is launched as it measures 4615mm. Its arch rivals Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo are shorter in length. The 360M will even have a more spacious cabin than its adversaries due to the elongated wheelbase. MG 360M will draw power from the Hector's 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine. The transmission options are expected to be borrowed from the Hector along with the 48V mild-hybrid system. It is not yet certain but the company might also offer the 2.0L diesel engine as well with the MPV.
