With the successful launch of the MG Hector in India, MG Motor India plans to spread its wings by introducing the MG ZS Electric SUV in December this year. The excellent response to the MG Hector encourages the company to launch the electric SUV early next year. The sightings of the electric SUV, MG ZS has been reported from many places in India.
The electric vehicle has already been launched in the UK at an introductory price of £21,495 (Rs 19.15 lakhs approx.) where an EV grant is available from the Government. In India, the MG ZS Electric SUV will compete with the Hyundai Kona Electric priced at Rs 25.30 lakhs. This vehicle displays an ARAI-certified driving mileage of 452 km on a single charge.
The MG ZS Electric SUV pricing could be in the same range. The vehicle sports an electric motor mounted on its front axle. This motor can deliver the power of 143ps and torque of 353Nm.
The 44.5KWh Li-ion battery is fitted under the floor to ensure a lower center of gravity, thereby assisting in better handling of the vehicle. The water-cooled battery pack can deliver a mileage of 262km in the WLTP cycle. One must wait for the ARAI rating.
The international model comes with excellent safety and driver assistance features. Some of them include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, satellite-navigation, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and advanced emergency braking.
Spy images indicate that there are not many exterior changes in comparison to the international model. The badging, star rider grille and the integrated charging port could be the only cosmetic interior alterations.
