The success of the MG Hector SUV has encouraged MG Motors to launch its second product, the all-electric SUV, MG ZS EV in India. Similar to the MG Hector, the MG ZS EV will come with a host of excellent features. It includes an 8-inch touchscreen entertainment system, power-adjustable driver seat, rain-sensing wipers, and a PM2.5 air purifier in the cabin.
Other fascinating features include the panoramic sunroof in the top-spec variant. The standard features include automatic projector headlights with LED DRLs, 17-inch alloy wheels, a tyre pressure mounting system, a keyless entry/exit, and an electronic parking brake.
Expect the SUV to come equipped with an electric motor that delivers a power of 143hp and a peak torque of 353Nm. This motor transmits power to the front wheels using a single-speed auto transmission system. Powering the engine will be a 44.5kWh liquid-cooled battery pack capable of delivering a mileage performance of 340km on a single charge.
The MG ZS EV will feature some of the best safety functionalities such as ABS with EBD, Hill-start Assist, six airbags, ESC, hill-descent control, rear parking sensors, and a rear parking camera. All these excellent features will be available on both the variants of the all-electric SUV, Excite and Exclusive.
As far as charging the batteries are concerned, MG Motors has set up charging units equipped with 50kW DC fast chargers at select dealership locations. These chargers can fuel the battery from 0 to 80% within 50 minutes. The car comes equipped with a 7.4kW AC charger that can charge the battery to its maximum capacity in six to eight hours. MG Motors is also considering providing a portable charging cable that can draw power from any 15A electrical socket, thereby catering to emergencies.
At present, the e-SUV will be available in five major cities of India, Bengaluru, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. The MG ZS EV price could be in the range of Rs 22 lakhs at the time of its launch. In India, the MG ZS EV is expected to provide competition to the Hyundai Kona Electric.
