- MG ZS EV to be at loggerheads with Hyundai Kona Electric
MG ZS EV has received more than 2300 bookings ahead of its launch on January 23, 2020 in the Indian market. The company has closed the bookings for the time being. Though, we seldom see a manufacturer pulling the plug on bookings right before the price announcement of a new product. MG ZS EV will directly rival the Hyundai Kona Electric while the prices are expected to begin at Rs 22 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
MG Motor India had officially commenced the bookings for ZS EV from December 21, 2019 and in less than a month's time, the SUV has garnered 2300 pre-orders which is really impressive. The company has already made it clear that the all-electric SUV will initially go on sale in just five cities in India: Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The price announcement on January 23rd is going to be for the 2300 pre-orders that MG has received so far. It is expected to revise the introductory price of the ZS, on the lines of Hector, once it plans to start the bookings again.

Under the hood, MG ZS will have a 44.5kWh battery which will transmit power to an electric motor. The maximum power output and peak torque performance will stand at 143bhp and 353Nm. The power will be transferred to the front wheels enroute a single-speed auto transmission. The SUV will have an ARAI certified driving range of 340 kms on a single charge. The company has also installed 50kW fast chargers at its select dealerships which has the ability to charge the battery to upto 80 percent from standstill in just 50 minutes. Though, it will also give the buyers a 7.4kW AC charger for charging the battery at home/office.
