MG ZS EV put on display at NuGen Mobility Summit 2019.
NuGen Mobility Summit aims to share knowledge about technologies for a cleaner future.
MG ZS is one of only two premium EVs available in the Indian market.
Hyundai Kona is the other.
The MG ZS is scheduled for launch on December 5 but was put on display at the NuGen Mobility Summit 2019 at ICAT in Manesar, outside the capital city. The NuGen Mobility Summit is a three-day summit that brings together stakeholders in the automotive industry to share learnings and to chart a path ahead for a cleaner future, automotive-wise.
The NuGen Mobility Summit was inaugurated by Nitin Gadkari, who is the union minister of road transport and shipping, as well as the minister of road transport and highways. During his speech, he mentioned that ethanol, methanol, biodiesel, and bio-CNG will support the auto sector going forward.
This is an interesting statement since vehicles such as the MG ZS do not depend on any of these fuels since they are all-electric. Mr. Gadkari also mentioned that there are multiple challenges for the implementation of electric vehicles in the market but ICAT engineers are working in that direction.
The MG ZS EV is at the tip of the electric vehicle spear in the Indian market. It will retail for a little less than the Hyundai Kona, which is priced at nearly Rs 24 lakh, ex-showroom. The MG ZS will be sold in five cities to start with, namely, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad. Owners will even be offered free fast charging for a limited period of time.
