MG ZS EV is an all-electric SUV.
The ZS EV will be revealed in December.
ZS launch scheduled for January 2020.
An AC charger will be sold as standard with the car.
MG has revealed that its upcoming ZS all-electric SUV will be offered with free fast charging for a limited period of time after launch. This is an incentive that will no doubt benefit both customers and manufacturers.
The ZS has a charging time of 7 hours using the AC charger that will be sold as standard with the car. The AC charger will be installed at the customer’s house or office and is a 7 kW supply.
The ZS uses a 150 bhp electric motor that draws energy from a 44.5 KWh Li-ion battery pack. However, a 50kW DC fast charger can get the ZS battery from zero to 80 percent in just 40 minutes. A full battery pack can take the ZS 335 km on the NEDC test cycle, and 262 km on the WLTP cycle.
The fast chargers that will be available for free users will be made available in the cities that the ZS will be sold initially. That’s Delhi NCR, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
Offering free fast charging will offer the consumer a taste of what to expect with a fast charger and a complete idea of whether it is worth the investment. For the manufacturer, it becomes easier to upsell the fast charger, since it is something that is an additional cost to the buyer of the ZS.
The MG ZS EV will retail at approximately Rs 22 lakh, ex-showroom, which is a competitive price considering the competition is the Hyundai Kona, another all-electric SUV that is priced at nearly Rs 24 lakh, ex-showroom.
