The powerful hatchback, Mini John Cooper Works (JCW) Pro Edition has been launched in India. The car can be booked on the website of Amazon India exclusively. However, since the car is brought to India as a CBU (completely built-up unit), just like all other Mini cars, it has been given an exclusive showroom price of Rs. 43.90 lakhs.
The Mini JCW Pro Edition is based on the Mini 3-door hatchback. It has been given such a high price tag as it gets a wide range of accessories and styling kits from JCW. It gets a dual tone exterior, which differentiates the car from the regular version with the contrasting red roof and ORVMs. It will be available in two colour options - Midnight Black and British Racing Green.
The new Mini JCW Pro rides on 17-inch alloy wheels which are painted in glossy black. The dual exhaust system comes with user controlled valves. On the inside, the seats are wrapped in dual tone black and red fine Alcantara leather. The red colour makes its way to the dashboard and the gear lever too. The dashboard gets a head-up display that gets satellite navigation. The system also gets a 12-speaker audio system from Harman.
Powering this limited edition Mini JCW Pro is a 2.0-litre turbocharged, 4-cylinder engine which can produce a maximum power of 208 bhp along with a highest torque of 300 Nm. It makes around 20 bhp and 20 Nm more power and torque (respectively) than the standard model. It can hit an acceleration of 0-100 kms per hour in just 6.3 seconds.
In India, the new Mini JCW competes with the likes of the Volkswagen Beetle and the Polo GTi. However, the Mini car is much more powerful (30 bhp) than its competitors. Also, this limited edition will have only 20 units on sale in the country.
