MINI has officially unveiled the new 2017 MINI Seven, a special edition for both the Cooper and Cooper S variants of the MINI three-door and five-door hardtop models in the U.S. The new Seven is an homage to the Austin Seven, the model with which the production of the classic Mini began in 1959, with which it underscores a distinctive character in the premium segment of small cars.
Speaking of the exterior, the Seven boasts of styling upgrades comes with Lapisluxury Blue body colour that has been taken from the MINI Yours programme, while the roof and exterior mirror caps are coloured in Melting Silver. It features LED headlights, LED fog lamps, white direction indicators, 17-inch light alloy wheels in exclusive two-tone design, door sill finisher, the hood gets a Melting Silver stripe bordered with Malt Brown colour line. Just to emphasize the exclusivity of the model, the company has badged the ‘Seven 7’ logo around the side indicators and on the central instrument surround.
Inside, the packages are features automatic air conditioning, on-board computer, MINI Driving Modes, MINI Excitement Package, sports leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons, rain sensor with automatic driving lights control, seat height adjustment on the passenger side, storage package, floor mats in velours and lighting package.
Mechanically, the Cooper S is powered by 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology, capable to crank out 189bhp at 4,700 – 6,000rpm and peak torque of 280Nm at 1,250rpm. It can accelerate from 0 – 100kmph in just 6.7 seconds with a top speed of 235kmph, if the transmission duties are done by an automatic. The standard Cooper draws its power from a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology that delivers 134bhp at 4,400rpm and a peak torque of 220Nm at 1,250rpm. It goes from 0 – 100kmmph in 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 210 kmph.
