Mitsubishi India has relaunched the Montero SUV at a sticker price of Rs. 68.45 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) in the country. Beinng globally sold as 'Pajero', it would be retailed as CBU in the Indian market. Mitsubishi Montero was discontinued in India around a couple of years back in 2014, and now the company has reintroduced the SUV in its facelifted avatar. The company had started accepting orders for the Montero facelift in July at a token amount of Rs. 10 Lakhs. It would be directly rivalling the Toyota Lanndcruiser Prado in India.
Mitsubishi Montero facelift flaunts the Japanese automaker's Dynamic Shield face. It also gets restyled bumpers and new spare wheel housing, while everything else is retained from the previous model. As for features, the Motero comes with auto high beam controller, daytime running LED strips, 18-inch alloy wheels, 3rd-row seats, Rockford music system, premium leather upholstery, power tilt and sliding sunroof, fully automatic air conditioning, touchscreen navigation system, steering mounted buttons and chrome interior door handles as standard. It is being offered in seven paint schemes: Warm White Mica, White Solid, Black Mica, Eiger Gray Metallic, Cool Silver Metallic, Quartz Brown Metallic, and Platinum Beige Metallic.
Mechanically, it is powered by a 3.2L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. The engine develops maximum power of 189bhp at 3800rpm and peak torque of 441Nm at 2000rpm. It is linked to a 5-speed automatic transmission, while power is being evenly disbursed to all the four wheels via a 4X4 drive system with a drive selector. Mitsubishi had already confirmed that it would also reintroduce the Outlander in the Indian market in 2016, while the new-generation Pajero Sport is expected to launch in 2017 in the country.
