M&M appoints Anish Shah as president, Group Special Projects

Indian auto giant, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd have announced that the company has appointed Anish Shah as the president of Group Special Projects with effect from August 1, 2014. Mr Shah will also be inducted into the group executive board of the company. 

Prior to this appointment, Shah was the president and chief executive officer of General Electric (GE) Capital India, where he led the transformation of the business including, a turnaround of the SBI Card joint venture. 

Shah holds a Ph.D from Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business where his doctoral thesis was on corporate governance. He also received a Masters degree from Carnegie Melon and has a post-graduate diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Mumbai. 

Commenting on the new appointment, Anand Mahindra, chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said, “At a time when our multi-business group is growing exponentially in scale, complexity and geographical reach, we welcome the extensive and diverse global experience that Anish brings to us.
