During the years, Mahindra Trucks and Buses Division has been one of the major competitors in the 16.2 tonnes heavy truck segment. But recently, it has started to grow aggressively and pulled itself ahead of Daimler INDIA, Eicher and VE commercial vehicles.
Mahindra Trucks and Buses claimed a growth of 34% in the first half of the Fiscal year, against the market growth of 7%. The company stands at 4.3% in the big truck space.
There was a time when Mahindra introduced products designed for overload but that strategy could not work out well. The company changed its strategy to make products lighter and hence, focus more on fuel efficiency and performance.
Mahindra claims that they guarantee their trucks to deliver higher fuel efficiency; else their customers could return the trucks. This helped build trust with the customers. After sales service and parts availability made sure the customers are given proper care and support during any breakdown.
On the technological perspective, Mahindra was the first to introduce the CRDe technology. It also introduced a feature, which delivers more power to the consumers with the press of a switch, delivering more efficiency and power.
Mahindra Trucks and Buses is confident to sell more than double its volumes it does today. With the new range of light and intermediate commercial vehicles lined up in their future plans and growing demand for fuel-efficient trucks, this does not look like a difficult sales volume to achieve. The Truck segment is expected to get more aggressive in the coming years.
