Monza F1 - Rosberg snubs Hamilton in Heineken d'Italia 2016

Snapshot: Nico Rosberg beats his team mate Lewis Hamilton at the Sunday’s Formula 1 Gran Premio Heineken d'Italia 2016.

Continuing his winning streak from the previous race, Nico Rosberg takes another fabulous win at the Sundays' Formula 1 Gran Premio Heineken d'Italia 2016 in Monza, Italy. Rosberg snubbed his team mate Lewis Hamilton, the current leader in the 2016 season and also the reigning champion to cut down the points gap to only 2 points. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel took the third spot at the Monza.

An Esctatic Nico Rosberg told the press during the post race press conference, "Thank you very much everyone, it’s absolutely amazing. It’s a very special day for me. I’m very happy to finally win here in Italy. You guys are unbelievable and it just makes it phenomenal to be up here so thank you very, very much and I’m going to enjoy this day."

Hamilton, who started the race from the front of the pole, fell to sixth position by Turn 1, but fought hard to finish second just 15 seconds adrift of Rosberg. Meanwhile, the second Ferrari, driven by Kimi Raikkonen took home the fourth position, ahead of the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo, who finished fifth. Valtteri Bottas of Williams finished on the sixth spot.

Controversy child, Red Bull's Max Verstappen who took much flak from across the F1 drivers for his reckless driving in the previous race, finished on the seventh spot. Force India has another good race with both his drivers finishing in the top 10. Sergio Perez finished eighth, while Nico Hulkenberg finished on the 10th spot. Sandwiched in between was Williams' Felipe Massa, completing the top ten.

This is Rosberg’s seventh win of the year, and probably the easiest since Baku, and brings him within two points of Hamilton, 250 to 248. Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo is on the third with 161 points in the kitty. Mercedes still remains well ahead in the constructor’s stakes with 488 points. Ferrari, on the other hand, has edged closer to Red Bull with 279 to their 290. Williams got the fourth spot back with 111 points, against Force India's 108.
