With the recent launch of its compact SUV Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki has received a very good response in the first month of sales. The company has dispatched 5,563 units in the month of March, where it was reported earlier that the brand has received over 37,000 bookings for the compact SUV with a waiting period of 4-5 months for its deliveries.
Maruti Suzuki started the booking for the SUV on March 8, but started the deliveries from March 25. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been priced at Rs 6.99 lakh (Ex showroom, Delhi), and will take on the likes of Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. Initially, the company planned on producing 80,000 units a year, but now the company has increased to 100,000 units, looking at the positive response at the Auto Expo 2016.
As a reminder, based on Suzuki’s Global C platform, the Maruti Vitara Brezza is available in diesel variant only. The Vitara Brezza is powered by a Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that translates power of 89 bhp of max power @ 4000 rpm and a torque of 200 Nm @ 1750 rpm. The engine is connected to a 5-speed manual transmission, where the compact SUV returns a fuel efficiency of 24.3 kmpl, making it the most fuel efficient SUV in the country.
The high points of the Brezza include include projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, dual airbags, ABS, and the top of the line versions come loaded with push button start, reverse camera, auto headlamps as well as auto AC among other things.
