Piaggio has introduced two new Moto Guzzi motorcycles in the Indian market. The all new Moto Guzzi V9 and the Moto Guzzi MGX – 21. The Moto Guzzi V9 is a basic retro cruiser motorcycle while the Moto Guzzi MGX-21 is a buffed up heavy cruiser which is one of the most costly propositions present in the Piaggio’s line-up.
The Moto Guzzi V9 is launched in variants including Roamer and Bobber. Both the versions are priced equally at Rs 13.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). While the Moto Guzzi MGX – 21 retails at Rs 27.78 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune).
After the launch of these two bikes, Moto Guzzi’s entire line-up consists of a total of 7 motorcycles including V9, MGX-21, Griso SE, Audace, California Touring Custom, ElDorado and California Touring 1400. All of the Moto Guzzi bikes are sold alongside other two-wheelers from Piaggio via the exclusive Motoplex showroom which is present in cities like Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad and Kochi.
The Moto Guzzi MGX-21 runs on a 1400cc V-Twin engine that generates a healthy 120Nm of peak torque and 96bhp of maximum power, while the Moto Guzzi V9 bobber is a mid-sized retro motorcycle that is powered from an 850cc twin-cylinder engine. The latter comes with features such as engine immobilizer, ABS, USB port and adjustable traction control.
Competition for these bikes?
The Moto Guzzi MGX-21 locks horns with bikes such as Indian Chief Vintage, Honda Gold Wing and Harley Street Glide.
The Moto Guzzi V9 is a direct competitor to the Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom and Triumph Thruxton R.
