The Ducati Factory rider duo had a disappointing outing at Jerez, since the race was marred by strange issues for Andrea Iannone, when he accidently tuned on the wet settings on his bike instead of the launch control. On the other hand Dovizioso suffered due to a riding error, which saw him drop down to the dead end during the race, in the end Dovi took a satisfying 9th position as he consolidated a bad race start.

The scheduled private testing at Mugello after the race on Sunday, saw Ducati gather more data for improvements on the already very capable GP15. However, Andrea Iannone suffered a crash which ended in him dislocating his shoulder.

As per Ducati press release, the two days of private testing for the two Ducati Team riders at Mugello was deemed a success by Ducati Corse as both factory riders  Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso focussed their efforts in search for the right settings and electronic strategies for the Italian GP, which is scheduled to take place at Mugello at the end of May.

During the test, it was said that both Ducati riders lapped very close to the circuit record, However, Iannone’s day was ruined towards the end of the session by a crash at the Arrabbiata 2 corner. Iannone suffered bruises after the crash but later in the afternoon during a medical check he was diagnosed as having dislocated his left shoulder.

Andrea Iannone (Ducati Team #29) – 1’47.5, 85 laps total

“It was for sure an interesting test, because testing before a race is always useful, and we were able to evaluate some solutions that during the GPs we find it difficult to do. In the end it was a useful two-day test and I am happy with how I was doing, even though unfortunately today at the end of the session I crashed at Arrabbiata 2 and banged my left shoulder pretty hard. In any case I’m satisfied with the way we are working, especially because the bike is still new and so we need to try different solutions in order to find the best set-up.”
