The iconic was track built in 1965, is located close to Le Mans and is about 237 kilometres from the Paris - Charles de Gaulle Airport, approx. 205 km from the Paris - Orly Airport and approx. 10 km from Le Mans City Centre. A centre for a lot many types of motor racing, Le Mans race circuit is most famous as the venue for the 24 Hours of Le Mans auto race. The track uses local roads that remain open to the public most of the year. The circuit, in its present configuration, is 13.629 kilometres (8.47 mi) long, making it one of the longest circuits in the world. Capacity of the race stadium is 100,000.
For the MotoGP race, the track is 4.2kms long with a longest straight being 674 meters. The race in 2014 was won by Marc Marquez while he was followed by Valentino Rossi in 2nd podium position while the 3rd went to Alvaro Bautista who took his GO&FUN Honda Gresini to a much deserved place. The Most number of MotoGP race wins at the Le Mans MotoGP circuit has been won by Jorge Lorenzo who has won here 3 times followed by the Honda duo of Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez with 1-1 race win each.
The Maximum number of poles on the other hand have been earned by Dani Pedrosa with the number standing at 3, followed by Marc Marquez with 2 poles and then by the legendary Casey Stoner who took pole once. The fastest lap time around the French circuit came in 2014 when Marc Marquez set a blistering pace of 1'32.042 with an average speed of 163.6bkmph. Marquez also holds the circuit race lap record of 1'33.548 with an average speed of 161.0kmph, this too was set in 2014. Marquez doesn't stop there, and in 2014 he also set the pole record at 1'32.042 with an average speed of 163.6bkmph. The fastest MotoGP till 2014 around the Le Mans MotoGP circuit has been recorded at 313.8kmph by the Honda RC213V of rider number 26, Dani Pedrosa, an incredible top speed considering the tracks longest straight stands just at 0.67km.
