The Audi Q3 may not be the smallest SUV in its kitty, but it surely is still the best seller for the Ingolstadt based manufacturer. After receiving a major upgrade last year, the Q3 has yet again received updates, but this time subtle one for the model year 2017 Q3. As for being the smallest SUV, the title now goes to the all-new Q2 crossover.
This is the last makeover that the Audi Q3 will receive for the first-generation vehicle, before moving to the second-generation Q3, which has been spied many times. But until the new model makes way for the German luxury car manufacturer, the 2017 MY makeover will keep the ball-rolling for the plush crossover in terms of the sales numbers.
Coming to the facelifted Q3 now, the designers have given the Q3 a more aggressive front end, in order to make it look sharp. The enlarged air inlets in the sport trim, the corporate single frame grill painted in stone grey, and the color-coordinated blade located beneath the center inlet gives the Q3 a slightly different look than the outgoing model.
To add to the dynamism of the updated Q3, the new S-line exterior package will see an addition of diamond-pattern inserts on the air inlets. The Q3 S-line can be distinguished by the new front skirt and the high-gloss black treatment for the radiator grille and air inlets. The MY 2017 will also see the demise of the “Tundra Brown” color, but instead, Audi will add a new shade called the “Camouflage Green.”
Apart from the regular Q3 and Q3 S-line, Audi will is also launching the new Q3 S line competition special edition, inspired by the S line exterior package. The special package will receive black accents on the door trim strips, side mirror caps, roof rails, window slot trims, and a glossy black appearance for the roof-mounted spoiler and the lower area of the rear bumper. Also, a new 19-inch glossy-black wheels, along with a couple of “S line” badges will make the Q3 special package a visual delight.
Coming onto the cabin of the Q3, the S line competition special package gets sport seats made with black leather and fabric finish, embossed with 'S line' logo in the centre and also gets a lumbar support as standard equipment. If you are willing to shell out some extra bucks, you can go for an optional Alcantara & Fine Nappa leather interior. A flat-bottomed sports steering wheel covered in leather, a couple of “S line” logos and stainless steel boosts the appeal even further.
While most of the updates are mere visual, Audi Q3 S line competition special edition will also have some hardware upgrades. These include the S line sport suspension and the Audi drive select system. Interestingly, Audi is not offering these updates only for the top-spec models, but as standard as Audi says it the model will be available with all the units in the crossover’s lineup.
Scheduled to go on sale later this year in Europe, the revised Audi Q3 will not cost you any extra money as the outgoing model, but you will have to pay a couple of grand extra for the S-line competition model. Expect the updated Q3 range to grace its presence at the Paris Motor Show next month. Keep a tab here for the updates from the same!
