India’s first ever Formula 1 driver Narain Karthikeyan has claimed yet another victory at the Donington Auto GP’s reverse grid race. This will be his fourth win of the season. This former F1 driver came out of the clash between him and Sergio Campana in the second lap of the race at Redgate. He won it by a comfortable 13.7 seconds ahead of the polesitting rookie Meindert Van Buuren. The reason behind his victory was an early obligatory tire, which enabled him to have a clear maximum pace over his competition.
Narain spoke about his victory, he said that, it was most definitely a satisfying win of the season, considering the fact that he won the race by 13.7 seconds, after starting it in the 7th place. The win did not come easily as he was pinched off track on the opening lap. After that Sergio and Narain overtook each other for a couple of times, wherein one of those times, Sergio accidentally hits Narain’s car on the front left side, which left his car with a damaged suspension. Because of that he became the first driver to enter the pits and that cost him big time, he was pushed to the end of the line.
All this happened in the beginning moments of the race, so when he left the pit and got some clean air, his clear pace took over and he pushed his way to the top. He said that his car’s left suspension was damaged a little and was feeling a bit awkward to turn it to the left. Thankfully there were not many left hand corners, and he just went all guns blazing on the straight tarmacs which helped him to get a 13.7 second lead over the rookie and take home the win.
Now the Indian driver has 40 points in his bag, which means that he is only 21 points behind the standing leader Vittorio Ghirelli. The final race of the GP world series will be held on the 6th of October at the Brno Circuit in Czech Republic.
