A new sport, Karting has entered the Indian sports arena and has been adopted by the teenagers in the country enthusiastically. Cheering crowds gathered round the track where ‘the JK Tyre open champion race 2013’ was held to encourage the drivers. Enthusiastic crowds thronged the track in Hyderabad, where the race was held. There were two categories of participants, Senior and Junior, depending on the age of the drivers. The winner, Nayan Chatterjee, took a bold step to enter both senior and junior categories as he is just 15 years old.
Nayan had to run both Junior and senior rounds, a daunting task as he had to complete two hundred ninety five ‘laps’. He had to complete these laps in two days. Nayan, who belongs to ‘Rayo Racing’ is from Mumbai was able to grab number one title from ‘Ameya Bafna’ who has won the title earlier. In the first round Nayan won ‘Pole Position’. ‘In the senior category’ he came way ahead of the ‘National Champion’ Ameya Bafna and won by scoring ninety seven points to Ameya’s eight seven points. They both belong to the ‘Rayo Racing’ club. The third place was taken by Dhruv Mohite from ‘Mohite Racing’ with seventy seven points. The race was exciting with winning drivers exchanging top spot many times during the race.
Krishna from ‘Mohite Racing’ gave Nayan a very tough challenge in the Junior Category. Krishna won the ‘JK Tyre Rookie Cup’, while Nayan achieved the second position. The third place was taken by Tejas Ram from ‘Meco Racing’. For now we can only congratulate Nayan on his exciting win.
