Now when the Japanese carmaker Honda has already announced its plans of unveiling the next-generation City in India on 25th November, Honda dealers across India have started taking pre-orders for the car, though unofficially. We spoke to a few dealers based out of Delhi who are taking a sum of Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh to pre-book the Honda City. Dealers also told us about the kind of response they have been receiving as this time the City will also have a diesel engine. While the global unveiling will take place in November, the launch is likely to happen after the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.
This will be the sixth generation City model globally, while in India it will enter the fourth generation. Having built on the new 2014 2014/Fit platform, the new City looks bigger and sportier than before Coming both in the petrol and diesel engine options, the City petrol will carry the existing 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol mill, while the diesel version will have the 1.5-litre i-DTEC petrol engine found in the Amaze. However, the diesel engine will be tuned for more power.
Other than the platform, new Honda City will also have an entirely new look with bigger wrap around headlamps with projector lights, redesigned integrated LED tail lamps, sporty character lines on both sides and several other changes.
Our representative will be at the Honda City unveiling on November 25, 2013 in New Delhi to bring you live updates, stay tuned to Autoportal.
