Mahindra Group owned Korean automaker Ssangyong Motor that unveiled the 2014 Korando C in Korea a couple of month back, has now started selling the vehicle in global market following its European launch in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Addressing the event Ssangyong CEO, Lee Yoo-il said, "The New Korando C has been reborn having actively adopted global market needs. I expect that it will establish itself as a flagship model of Ssangyong in Europe as well. We will make efforts to strengthen the Ssangyong Motor brand while focusing on increasing our global SUV market share by introducing the New Korando C to customers through our global sales network, including the European network."
Ssangyong Korando has gone through styling changes both inside and out. It now has upgraded interior quality, so to match with the emerging needs of the global markets. The company has already sold 130,000 units of the model, which was launched in 2010 for the global market. And now Ssangyong is expecting its annual sales volume to go up to 80,000 units after the launch of the updated model.
In Europe, the all new Korando C will be sold both with three engine options. The diesel model features the e-XDi200 engine that mated to an automatic transmission churns out 175PS or the e-XDi200 low emission engine that develops 149PS. The petrol model powers e-XGi 2.0-litre engine, capable of producing 149PS. The key features that the new Korando C is being offered with are Ventilated Driver's seat, Smart key system, DLRs (Daytime Running Lights) and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System).
