Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the all-new Wagon R at a sticker price of Rs 4.19 Lakhs(Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. The hatchback is offered with a choice of two petrol engines in three trim levels: Lxi, Vxi and Zxi. In addition, it will also be available with three automatic variants. Underpinning the 5th generation HEARTECT platform, all-new Maruti Wagon R comes with several cosmetic updates while getting a new 1.2L engine along with the existing 1.0L petrol motor. The bookings for the new hatchback commenced on January 14, 2019 at token amount of Rs 11,000 at all the company authorized dealerships.
The new Wagon R will be offered in six colors: Pearl Poolside Blue, Pearl Nutmeg Brown, Magma Grey, Pearl Autumn Orange, Silky Silver and Superior White. It will ride on 14-inch steel wheels. Inside the cabin, the hatchback comes with several premium features such as the 17.78-cm 'SmartPlay' touchscreen infotainment system, Multi-function tilt adjustable steering wheel, 60:40 folding rear seats, Keyless entry and Power adjustable ORVMs. Speaking of the safety features, 2019 Maruti Wagon R would boast of driver airbag, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) and front seat belts reminder, speed alert system and rear parking sensors as standard across all the variants.
Mechanically, the new Wagon R will be available with a choice of two petrol engines: 1.0L 3-cylinder K10B engine and 1.2L 4-cylinder K12B engine. The former is carried over from the existing model while the latter is a new addition, borrowed from the Ignis. The 1.0L engine will have similar power output and torque performance of 67bhp and 90Nm, respectively. It will be offered with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT (AGS) gearbox. Coming to the 1.2L petrol engine, it will generate top power of 82bhp and highest torque of 113Nm. Similar to the smaller engine, it can also be availed with a choice of 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT (AGS) gearbox. The 1.2L engine returns mileage of 21.50kmpl while the 1.0L motor has fuel efficiency of 22.50kmpl, which is nearly 10 percent higher than the outgoing model.

Rs 670 Crores in the development of new hatchback. Maruti Wagon R will challenge the likes of Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago and Ford Figo in the Indian market.
