Following the launch of Pulsar 220F ABS variant, Bajaj Auto has now launched the upgraded Avenger Cruise 220 and Avenger Street 220 ABS models. This development is a result of the Indian government’s new safety regulations on automobiles.
In terms of safety demand from consumers, the new Bajaj Avenger 220 motorcycles get a single channel ABS system along with front wheel disc brakes.
Existing non-ABS models carry a price tag of Rs 95,705 (ex-showroom Pune). The new Avenger 220 ABS models will cost Rs 1.02 lakh, pricier by almost Rs 6,700. The new ABS fitted Cruise 220 and Street 220 will come with improved brakes.
Both the Avenger bikes house a 220 cc, single cylinder, 2 valve, twin spark, DTS-i motor, mated to a 5-speed gearbox and churns 19.03 PS of max power at 8400 RPM and 17.5 NM of peak torque at 7000 RPM. They get front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Their fuel efficiency is claimed to be 45 kmpl.
Bajaj is also expected to launch Street 180 ABS model as well. If launched, it would rival the Suzuki Intruder 150 ABS variant, which costs Rs 1.02 lakh (ex-showroom Pune) and Street 180 ABS is also expected to cost almost the same.
The new Bajaj Avenger 220 twins with ABS are already available at showrooms, however, deliveries will begin in the near future and some dealers are accepting bookings for the same.
