BMW has today launched the 5-Series facelift in India. This is the same vehicle that the company showcased at this year's Geneva Motor Show. Launched in total 4 diesel variants- 520d Modern, 520d Luxury, 525 Luxury+ and 530d M sport, the upgraded 5-Series comes in a price range of Rs 46.9-57.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company has discontinued the petrol version of the car.
Since it's just a mid-life facelift, there are some changes made to both the exteriors and interiors of the car, though mechanically it remains all the same as the outgoing version. Exterior updates given to the car are additional contour lines for the surround of kidney grille, revised fog lamps with added chrome surrounds, revamped lower air intakes, restyled rear lights, new alloy wheels and extra crease on rear apron.
The 520d variants of the car sport a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel unit, capable of churning out the maximum power output of 184bhp and 380Nm of peak torque. The 525d Luxury Plus variants produces 217bhp and 450Nm, deriving its power from a 2.0-litre diesel mill; while the top-of-the-line version M Sport develops 258bhp and 560Nm. All the engines come mated to an eight-speed ZF gearbox that transmits power to the rear wheels.
Standard features offered on the car are Xenon headlights and LED fog lamps, while Adaptive LED headlamps are offered as an option in the new 5-Series. There are a few interior changes as well like iDrive control system now has a track-pad on the control dial, and is now chrome bordered. The company claims to have improved the fuel efficiency and spaciousness of the car.
