Chevrolet India has launched the updated Sail duo in the country with some subtle changes. The updated Sail sedan comes in a price range of Rs. 5.19 - 7.64 lakhs, while the Sail hatchback is priced in a domain of Rs. 4.41 - 6.81 lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi). The Sail twins are mechanically same, but a few cosmetic upgrades are visible on the outside as well as inside.
The company has phased out the 'U-VA' branding from the hatchback and now it is termed as 'Sail Hatchback'. At the outside, the duo gets chrome treatment at the foglamp enclosures and at the bootlid to make it more premium and striking. In addition, the headlamps as well as the tail lamp cluster also gets minor tweaks. General Motors has focused more on upgrading the interiors as they are several upgrades inside the cabin. The dashboard is done in dual tone black and beige combination with silver and chrome. The gear knob, A/C vents, and HVAC control knobs have chrome surrounds, whereas the door handles and the gear shifter get silver moulding. The Sail duo now features an new 2-DIN music system with Bluetooth functionality, and it can be paired up with 5 phones along with Bluetooth audio streaming. There is also an all new black colored steering wheel introduced with the Sail siblings.
Under the hood, the Sail sedan and Sail hatchback retain their previous engines in both petrol and diesel guises. The diesel variants in Sail twins get a Fiat sourced 1.3-liter SDE SMARTECH turbocharged engine which is good enough to make out a power output of 73.9 bhp at 4000 rpm in accordance with a peak torque performance of 190 Nm at 1,750 rpm. Being coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox which enables the duo to have an impressive fuel economy of 22.1kmpl. On the other hand, the petrol variants of Sail siblings come powered by the same 1.2-liter SMARTECH engine which rakes in a decent power of 82.4 bhp at 6000rpm and peak torque of 108.5 Nm at 5000 rpm. It is also paired with company's traditional 5-speed manual gearbox which returns a mileage of 18.2kmpl.
