Renault is expected to unveil a new concept car in the Monaco Grand Prix on 24th May. The car’s name had not been revealed but is expected to be named as ‘Twin fun’. This follows the launch of two more concept cars by the same company recently namely the TwinZ and the Twizy.
While TwinZ, launched nearly a month back at Milan, was a rear wheel drive electrically powered car and the Twizy being F1 racing car, the new concept car is expected to have a new design other than that. The concept is an expression of the brand’s passion and an illustration of how different takes on the same city car are possible. While certain expectations say that the car could be a racing version of the TwinZ concept car unveiled earlier some say that the car is actually a tribute to the Renault 5 model cars, which were iconic to the brand earlier. This is justified by the image of number 5 in the doors of the new concept car’s image in the teasers. But the press release from the company depicts it to be a twin of Twimz. The images show a sky blue city car and were seen at Madrid. The car could be powered by either a rear mounted or mid mounted petrol engine.
The car is designed according to the Renault’s life cycle design strategy. The unveiling of the car would be followed by a series of other dynamic demonstrations at events such as the July’s festival of speed at Goodwood, England. The design was headed by the Senior Vice president of the Renault corporate design team, Laurens van den Acker. The concept comes under the ‘play’ petal of a six petaled human life cycle flower notion in which Renault has based its present design strategy.
