The Volvo, the luxury car manufacturer from Sweden, plans to expand its presence in the car market in India, in the coming years. In April it opened a new ‘dealership outlet’ in the fastest economically growing state in West India. The outlet is opened in the capital city of Gujarat, in Ahmedabad, and as a symbol of luxurious Swedish style the interior and covers nearly three thousand five hundred square feet. The car manufacturer plans to open some more outlets in the years to come, In the year 2013 it also plans to open showrooms in metro cities of ‘Kolkata and ‘Mumbai’ and also in the national capital, ‘New Delhi.’
The Ahmedabad outlet is situated in the prime commercial center at “Sarkhej–Gandhinagar Highway,’ known by its short name, S. G. Highway’ This particular area is between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat and is a main hub of commerce, entertainment and construction activities. It also has ‘showrooms’ of all major international car models, like ‘Prosche, BMW and Audi,’ now joined by an outlet of Volvo as well.
A senior executive of the Swedish car manufacturer, said after the inauguration that this is their first outlet in Ahmedabad. It shows that the car enthusiasts in India have given a very robust sign of appreciation to Volvo car and accepted it wholeheartedly. He also said, that the organization plans to expand its dealership network in the coming few years. He hoped that in the future they would be able to increase the sale of their units substantially. He also said that this is the first step in the growth of dealership outlets in the country and the company is planning to increase further its network of dealers in the country.
