In a bid to strengthen its market position in the Indian market, Fiat India has plans to launch several new vehicles in 2014. After the Linea Classic that the company rolled out recently, new Fiat Linea is the next product to be launched by the first quarter of 2014. However, it will be first showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo in February.
The updated Linea has already made its way to several international markets, and was expected to be here in 2013 only, but the company's focus had been the network expansion over the year.
Coming in a new design, the updated Fiat Linea will have changes both inside and out. While the front fascia will receive a redesigned front grille, new bumper and new fog lamp clusters; the rear bumper too will be re-profiled with an additional chrome strip. Also, the rear number plate will be positioned on the bootlid. The side profile however remains similar to the existing version.
In terms of interiors, the updated Linea will get a new two-tone, three-layered dashboard, which give it a much premium feel. The steering wheel now has a touch of sliver and the centre console has better looking AC vents and new audio system. Also, the instrument cluster will have chromed dials and circular centre.
Mechanically, the car will remain unchanged with the existing petrol, diesel and a turbocharged T-Jet petrol engine. Fiat that recently launched the 2013 Linea T-jet in three trims, might sell both the models alongside, rebadging the existing model as the 'Linea Classic'.
Fiat India earlier revealed its plans of launching nine new models in next three years, of which the Linea Classic is already here. The company's iconic SUV brand Jeep and Abarth model range will hit the Indian shores next year.
