Ford India has finally launched the new Figo hatchback at an introductory price of Rs. 4.29 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. It is the company's second new launch in India this year, after the Figo Aspire compact sedan. Being quite identical to the Figo Aspire cosmetically, the new Figo gets the same set of petrol and diesel engines as the sedan, including the 1.5L petrol motor and 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. New Ford Figo is on offer in six trims: Base, Ambient, Trend, Trend Plus, Titanium and Titanium Plus.
The Figo facelift comes with driver's airbag as standard safety feature across the entire variant range. The interior cabin is finished in an all-black shade, with features quite similar to the Figo Aspire, like Rear fog lamps, 12V power outlet, Guide-me-home headlamps, Tilt adjustable power steering, Front power windows with one-touch up-down driver window, Electric boot release, Remote locking and Engine immobilizer as standard across all the variants. The new Figo has a class-leading ground clearance of 174mm and boot space of 257 litres. Just so you know, Ford Figo's flagship variant is avalable with high-end safety features such as hill climb assist, 6 airbags (first-in-segment), ESP, ABS with EBD etc. to mention a few. For those asking, the first-generation Figo hatchback was launched exactly on this very date six years ago in 2009. Ford Figo, alongside the Figo Aspire sedan, would be maufactured at company's Sanand production facility in Gujrat.
Mechanically, the new Figo hatch is presented in three engine options: a 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol; 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.5L, 4-cylinder diesel. The 1.2L petrol motor would be offered with base and mid variants of the new Figo and it would develop a maximum power of 87bhp and peak torque of 112Nm. It would be coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the heavier and much powerful 1.5L petrol motor would be available with the range-topping variant, producing 110bhp and 136Nm. It would be linked to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Coming to the diesel variants, they would be powered by the 1.5L TDCi motor which is good enough for 99bhp of power and 215Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual transmission would be at the helm of affairs, while it delivers a mileage of 25.83kmpl. New Ford Figo would be up against the likes of Maruti Swift, Chevrolet Beat, Hyundai Grand i10 and Nissan Micra.
