Ford India has officially announced the launch of new Figo hatchback on September 23, 2015 in the country. Ford Figo facelift looks quite identical to the Figo Aspire compact sedan, which was launched last month in India. Mechanically, the Figo facelift would be launched in both petrol and diesel guises with the same set of engines as the Figo Aspire sedan. Just so you know, Ford Figo lock horns with the likes of Hyundai Grand i10, Toyota Etios Liva and Maruti Ritz.
As for exterior styling, the second-generation Figo hatch flaunts a honeycomb front grille with revamped front fascia. The production body of the hatch is pretty similar to the KA concept car. Inside the cabin, the new hatch is expected to share several elements with its elder sibling Figo Aspire. One can expect the range-topping variant of new Figo to have features like automatic climate control, 4.2-inch SYNC multimedia infotainment system, multi-function steering wheel, reverse parking sensor, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and alloy wheels. For those asking, Ford Figo Aspire is the only sedan in its segment to come with 6-airbags and the company might equip the hatch with similar number of airbags.
Mechanically, as told before, new Ford Figo would be presented in both petrol and diesel guises. The petrol variants would be powered by a 1.2L Ti-VCT engine, while the diesel variants would get the 1.5L TDCi mill. Both these powertrains would be mated to 5-speed manual transmission. Also, what remains to be seen is that whether Ford India offers the more powerful 1.5L petrol engine with the 6-speed PowerShift automatic gearbox or not as it did with the Figo Aspire. As for pricing, it is being learnt that new Figo's base variant would start from Rs. 4 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). The American automaker would also introduce the new Endeavour SUV in India in the initial months of 2016.
