Ford India has been testing the next-generation Figo hatchback and a compact sedan based on it rigorously in the country and both have been spotted several times. But, what's new this time is that, the test mule of Figo hatch has been spotted with an automatic transmission by our friends at Team-BHP. Alongside the gear-lever, we also get a glimpse of the Figo's interior cabin with other features as well.
Going by the spy image, the gear-lever is similar to the one installed in EcoSport. Also, the gear-lever spied here also has a 'S' mode along with the regular 'P', 'R', 'N' and 'D' ones. However, the company hasn't confirmed that whether it would offer a dual-clutch transmission with the next-gen Figo, like the EcoSport or not. But, if somehow, it managaes to offer the new Figo with DCT, then it would be the cheapest car in the country to be available with a dual-clutch transmission. The next-gen Ford Figo petrol variants would be powered by a new 1.2L motor, instead of the 1.0L EcoBoost engine and the engine would be paired with the aforementioned DCT gearbox. Also, the Figo based compact sedan may also feature the same DCT gearbox.
Talking about the interior of next-gen Figo hatch as visible in image, it boasts steering mounted controls, an integrated audio system, electrically adjustable ORVMs, piano black inserts on the steering wheel and dash, as well as chrome rings around the side air-con vents and the headlamp control knob. It seems to be the mid variant of the Figo. As for exterior, it has black door handles and ORVMs, full wheel caps and no rear wiper/washer. Ford India would inaugurate its new manufacturing plant in the last week of this month, most probably on March 26 - where both these new cars would enter production.
