Ford India, after a long wait of almost one and half years, would eventually launch its Halo sports car Mustang on January 28, 2016 in the country. The sixth-generation Ford Mustang had its world premiere at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show, and it is for the first time that Mustang is developed as right-hand-drive vehicle as well. Needless to say, it would be sold via CBU route in India.
As for features, the Mustang sports car would come loaded with a sync 3 infotainment system, automatic wipers, start/stop button and adaptive cruise control. Additionally, a track app would be offered which would be at the helm of launch control and provide the performance related data on the instrument cluster's 4.2-inch multi information display. It is being learnt that the 390 watt Shaker Pro Audio System would also be available as an optional feature. Just so you know, the aforementioned audio system comprises of an AM/FM stereo, single-CD/MP3 player and 12 speakers including an eight-inch sub-woofer.
Internationally, Ford Mustang comes loaded with a 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 engine, a 2.3L EcoBoost engine and the flagship 5.0L V8 engine. The 3.7L Ti-VCT motor develops 297bhp of top power and 380Nm of peak torque, while the EcoBoost mill churns out 306bhp and 434Nm. Coming to the 5.0L powertrain which powers the Mustang GT, it delivers 430bhp of maximum power and 542Nm of highest torque. It is expected that the company, in all likelihood, would launch the Mustang GT with the 5.0L V8 engine in India. The lower engines would not make their way in the country, at least for the time being. This engine would be linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
2015 Ford Mustang flaunts traditional HID headlamps and LED tri-bar taillamps with sequential turn signals as standard exterior features. In addition, the American automaker offers a long list of personalization and customization options. Talking about the safety features, it would boast of the contemporary Blind Spot Information System, which detects a vehicle at a blind spot via a radar and alerts with an indicator in the appropriate exterior mirror. Ford Mustang GT price is expected to be starting Rs. 55 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
