- 2020 Skoda Octavia India Launch by end of next year.
- A plug-in-hybrid version could also be introduced.
- A high-performance vRS variant is also in works.
New-gen Skoda Octavia is all set to have its world premiere next year across the globe. But before the official preview, the company has released the exterior sketches of the new sedan.
The India launch of 2020 Skoda Octavia is scheduled by the end of 2020, as confirmed by Zac Hollis, Director, Sales, Service, and Marketing, Skoda India. It will challenge the likes of Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra in the country.
Going by the official sketches, it is fairly evident that the new Octavia takes designing cues from its elder sibling and the company's flagship sedan, the Superb. The front fascia flaunts a single unit headlamp setup which replaces the split-headlamp unit. The front grille is much bigger in size while the new clamshell bonnet is reminiscent of the current model of Superb.
The overall profile of the sedan is angular while the tailgate and tail-light design witnesses a radical departure from the ongoing model.
The dimensions are expected to be the same as the new sedan will be based on the updated version of the current model's MQB platform. However, it might be lighter in weight due to the extensive use of lightweight metal.
The 2020 Skoda Octavia interior pictures are not released yet however spy-shots have indicated that it will feature a fresh layout with a newly developed infotainment system that will have wireless support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The petrol and diesel engines are expected to be carried over from the present model in addition to the introduction of a plug-in hybrid variant.
