Ford Endeavour, with its large proportions and aggressive looks, redefined the SUV segment in India and many people still love it, as the original SUV. But, it's been ages since the Endeavour got any update and with the ever dynamic market, the SUV somewhere lagged behind. Now, after six months of its public debut at the 2014 Bangkok Motor Show as a concept, the next-gen Ford Endeavour (Everest, as it is known outside India) is set to be fully unveiled.
According to a report by Philippines’s AutoIndustriya, the SUV will be unveiled on 14th November, fully, before going on sales in India, early next year. Ford has so far showcased the concept version of the Everest in Sydney, followed by the Bangkok motor show, earlier this year. The new Endeavour, will be based on the Ranger’s ladder-frame chassis and will come equipped with coil-sprung rear suspension, an improvement over the current model’s leaf springs.
Speculations are that the 2015 Everest/ Endeavour will come powered with a 2.2-liter DOHC 16-valve Inline-4 TDCI as well as a 3.2-liter DOHC 20-valve Inline-5 TDCI motor. The transmissions could be upgraded to 6-speed units from the current 5-speed ones. For the Indian market though, to rival the new Fortuner, the SUV can carry the 2.5- and 3.0-liter diesel engines from the outgoing model.
As for the interiors, they will many of the cues from the dashboard of the 2015 Ford F-150 pick-up for the U.S. market. Apart from the design cues, the Everest will also get the Ford's latest SYNC 2 integrated multimedia system with an 8-inch MyFordTouch screen. Also, together with the AppLink and the quicker load times, SYNC 2 will combine better and more intuitive voice recognition.

Ford is confident about the new Everest and will come through the CKD route in India, as the current Endeavour does. Once launched the vehicle will compete with the Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton, Hyundai Santa Fe and the current segment leader – the Toyota Fortuner.
